Are you looking for ways to get involved in the community? Do you have some spare time or skills that you would like to use to make Dorchester a better place to live? Does your organization need volunteers to help you achieve your mission? The Volunteer page at MyDorchester is where you can find and promote individual and group volunteer opportunities in the Dorchester area. Everyday, we post opportunities with local clinical and community services organizations. We also send out a biweekly volunteer blast that you can sign up for below. Be part of Open Streets! I Sept. 28th

Open Streets Open World
On Sept. 28, Circle The City—Open Streets/Open World will close Blue Hill Avenue
to cars and open it up to people. From Dudley Street to Grove Hall there will be
fitness clinics, biking and walking tours, kids’ games, yoga, art activities, live music,
dance classes and much more.

We seek volunteers to help out on the day-of event to help run the information booth,
be street ambassadors, run safety patrols, help coordinate programming, and to survey
participants. After you sign up for one or more shifts, someone from our organization will
give you a call and discuss what you’d like to be involved in, where volunteers will meet,

In  2012, the Freedom House Board established a new direction for the organization to scale our programs to serve more young people and work towards doubling the college graduation rate. We connect our historic legacy of success in the civil rights movement and first mover status  in college access and success programming to the critical 21st century view of the need to graduate more young people from college particularly those from immigrant, minority or low income backgrounds.
Freedom House is clear that a high quality  high school education coupled with a college degree are worthwhile investments and pathways to opportunity and upward social mobility. Closing the opportunity divide and eliminating disparities in educational attainment are community development challenges that Freedom House is uniquely poised to address.
