How to Manage Arthritis with Walking Sep. 24

Join the Arthritis Foundation, Boston University, the Boston Black Ministerial Alliance, and Social Economic Status Related Cancer Disparities at Franklin Park on Saturday, September 24th for a FREE breakfast and seminar on walking and arthritis. The program will be the start of a walking initiative sponsored by a coalition of Boston churches. At the event, there will be rheumatologist Patricia Fraser, M.D. (Brigham and Women’s Hospital), exercise physiologist Marlene DaCosta, M.A.(Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center), Rev. David Wright (Boston Black Ministerial Alliance), and other experts discussing how and why walking helps control arthritis and the best way to walk. Join your neighbors and city officials for the 7th annual Hub On Wheels citywide bike ride on Sunday, September 25th, 2011. Experience a car-free Storrow Drive, explore hidden pathways and historic neighborhoods, and take in views of the Boston Harbor that you've never seen before. Codman Square is one of the stops along the route! Neponset River Trail Public Meeting Aug. 30

On Tuesday, August 30, from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m., at the Foley Senior Residences Dining Room, 249 River Street, Mattapan, the MA Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) will discuss, and solicit public input on, recommended alternative trail extension between Central Avenue in Milton and Blue Hill Avenue in Boston to link the Lower Neponset River Trail to the Neponset Esplanade.

Please help pass along this meeting notice (see flyer attached below) especially to those who live in Mattapan and Milton, to help generate a sizeable community presence at this meeting that can provide feedback about this critical missing piece.
