Savin Hill Christmas Market Nov. 19

On Saturday November 19, and Saturday, November 26, there will be a village Christmas Market at 1 Maryland Street (the corner of Savin Hill Ave.) from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. At the market, you can buy handcrafted ornaments, vintage Christmas decorations, faux fur hats, mittens, and gloves, signed children's books, limited edition prints and specialty gifts. Buy local this holiday season in your own neighborhood!

Savin Hill Yoga Opens in November!

The Savin Hill Yoga Cooperative officially opens on November 1, 2011! The cooperative is offering huge discounts and free classes abound. There are 9 new teachers and 12 classes on the schedule at the moment - and they are looking for new teachers and new classes. Do you have a good idea for a yoga class? Call and discuss! Savin Hill 2nd Annual Night Out, Aug. 2

Malibu BeachA Beach and Park Walk will take place in Savin Hill on Tuesday August 2, 2011, as part of the Savin Hill Night Out. The walk begins at 9 p.m. and leaves from the parking lot at Denny & Playstead. Contact savinhillotb@gmail.com for more information. Dogs welcome.

National Night Out is an annual event designed to strengthen our communities by encouraging neighborhoods to engage in stronger relationships with each other and with their local law enforcement partners. Buy a Brick for Leo J. Lydon Memorial Clock!

Buy a Brick ProgramIn response to requests from the community, the Buy-A-Brick program has returned! This program gives friends and neighbors an opportunity to purchase an engraved brick for the Honorable Leo J. Lydon Memorial Clock in Savin Hill. Bricks will be incorporated into two beautifully designed planters that will complement the clock.

The cost for each brick is $100.00. You can have your brick engraved to commemorate a birth, death, wedding, gift, retirement, anniversary, message of love, message about a beloved pet or any other event, milestone or special message. Inscription can be three lines. Savin Hill/Tenean Beach Clean Up, May 21

Department of Conservation and RecreationSenator Jack Hart and Representative Martin Walsh in collaboration with The Department of Conservation and Recreation have announced plans for the annual volunteer community beach clean-up. The clean-up will take place at Savin Hill Beach and Tenean Beach in Dorchester on Saturday May 21, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Dorchester residents are invited to stop by and help with raking, weeding and general clean-up. The Department of Conservation and Recreation will provide the necessary equipment at each location.

Residents of Dorchester: please meet at the playground of Savin Hill Beach or parking lot of Tenean Beach to pick-up equipment for the cleanup. Contact: Jennifer Jackson for more information at (617) 722-1150.
 

Columbia Savin Hill Civic Association Plant & Bake Sale, May 21

Savin Scoop Ribbon Cutting Event with Mayor Menino, Apr. 6

Savin Scoop will be having its official ribbon cutting ceremony as the spring season approaches us on Wednesday, April 6 at 4:30 p.m. Savin Scoop specializes in locally made ice cream, smoothies, frappes, coffee, espresso and many other scrumptious treats right here in the Savin Hill neighborhood. So, in hopes of a wonderful spring season of ice-cream indulgence right around the corner, join Savin Scoop and Mayor Menino as they cut the ribbon!

Menino will also be stopping by four other businesses which have new signage provided by the "ReStore Program"; MTV Hair & Nails, At home Real Estate, McKenna's Cafe, and the newly opened Savin Bar + Kitchen at 112 Savin Hill Ave.
