Dorchester House will be holding their 19th Annual Children's Holiday Party on Saturday, December 10th from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. The party is due to be a fun time, and is free for all children ages 1 - 10 years old! There will be Holiday Craft Tables, Face Painting, Games, Holiday Treats, and last but not least, Santa and his Elves! This event is for pre-registered only, you must register to visit Santa & receive a gift. A ticket is required for each child, and the number of children who receive gifts is limited to 600. Update: the Lego and Arts in the Park programs are full! The response was huge; stay tuned for announcements of other summer programming in Dorchester! The Pope's Hill Neighborhood Association is proud to present a very special Lego Club for children at Dorchester’s Garvey Park. As your child moves through the many stages of growth, Lego’s offer toys that foster creativity and encourage the development of motor skills, role‐playing and problem‐solving abilities. The Lego Club @ Garvey Park, sponsored by PHNA, will meet Mondays and Wednesdays July 11th through August 23rd, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. This is a FREE program for children ages 5 to 9. Boston City Singers teaches over 350 inspiring young singers in nine choruses. Most of our singers are boys and girls (ages 4-18) from Boston‘s underserved neighborhoods. We accept new k-12 students with varying musical abilities. We offer a sliding scale tuition. Over 80% of our members require substantial scholarship support to participate. Boston City Singers uses a distinctive curriculum that trains children as young as four years old to learn to sing well. Each singer progresses through several levels: Kodály Singing Class, Neighborhood Training Chorus, Concert Chorus II, and Concert Chorus. Our singers learn about diverse communities and cultures by performing an extensive repertoire including gospel music, international folk music, opera, jazz, and medieval chant.

The students of the Trotter School (135 Humboldt Ave. Dorchester, MA 02121) invite the community of Dorchester to attend a night of music, dance, fun and food! Students and teachers will perform on Friday, June 3, from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m., to raise funds for a 5th grade graduation field trip. Your support and encouragement of our students is needed! Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door. Children 6-12 years old are $5.00, and Children under 6 are free. Home cooked food will be for sale at intermission. You:
-Complete and submit the on-line application – we’ll contact you when we receive it
-Submit names of references
-Join us for a face to face interview (it’s helpful if you bring answers to the pre-interview questionnaire with you)
We:
-Review your application and references – we also do a background check
-Get to know you, your background, interests and hobbies better in a 60-90 minute interview
-Consider how well your skills and interests match those of youth on our waiting list and talk to both you and the family about this potential friendship
-Set a date for you and the youth to meet, accompanied by an agency staff member.
The process to qualify as a Big takes a few weeks: the time before you’re matched with a Little depends on how many youth living in your area and sharing your interests are waiting for Bigs.
Me? A Big Brother or Big Sister?
Yes, you! It's really simple. All you need to do is have fun with a great kid doing stuff you already do (or want to do) like: play video games, play sports, enjoy free tickets to events, wash your car, go hiking, or watch TV. Whatever. You decide!
