Got Talent | January 31

Friday January 31 between 6pm-8:30pm, "Got Talent" Youth Talent Showcase will be taking place in the Joseph Lee School Auditorium at the Perkins Community Center (155 Talbot Avenue Dorchester, MA). This showcase is to have youth & families from all genres of interest come and all neighborhoods of the city to display their artistic expression on stage for the enjoyment of all.

The "Got Talent" showcase series was formed in 2009 via collaboration between Matt Parker- a heralded youth worker in the communities of Boston, and the Perkins Community Center Youth Program staff. Several succesful events over the years made this a premier venue for youth talent. Now back to kick off the 2014 year, the Got Talent Showcase is sure to be a fun time!

Annual Holiday Coat Drive | December 19

Healthworks Community Fitness will be holding their Annual Coat Drive on Thursday, December 19th, 5:30PM -8PM. As the weather is becoming increasingly cold and frigid, a warm coat is crucial.  Last year, Healthworks Community Fitness gave away over 400 winter coats and are hoping to surpass that this year. 
 
If you or anyone you know is in need of a winter coat there will be one, provided that there are still some left. Coats will be given out to men women and childre,

Fall Leaf Raking | November 23

Saturday, November 23rd, 10am-12pm
Meet at Valley Gates Parking Lot
 
Come out and join in the fun at Franklin Park Fall Leaves Raking.
 
All ages welcome. Bring a rake and gloves if you have them, we'll have plenty for those who don't.

Kroc-o-Treat | October 31

Thursday October 31 from 6pm-8pm join the KROC and their 3rd Annual Kroc-O-Treat Halloween Celebration. Located at 650 Dudley Street in Dorchester MA. The KROC will provide a safe indoor Halloween activities for the community. The festivities will include trick or treating, a bouncy house, arts & crafts and costume prizes.

Requesting donations for: packaged treats for the Halloween Bags. Monetary donations, and Super Hero themed decorations or crafts.

Volunteers for this event are also welcome and encouraged!!!!!

Love & Limits in Early Childhood | October 16

Attention Parents and Guardians.... The Early Childhood Development Series would like to invite you to attend the Love & Limits in early childhood discussion. This will take place, October 16 from 6pm-8pm at the Boys & girls Club of Dorchester (1135 Dorchester Ave.). This group focuses on the critical area of social and emotional development and gives strategies for parents to support their child's needs in order to provide a foundation for future learning, strong relationships and psychological and emotional health.
 
Dinner and Childcare will be provided

Halloween Mask Making | October 10

Thursday, October 10th at 4pm-6pm, the Dot to Dot Café, will run a 3 week course on mask making. The classes will be the 10th, 17th, and the 24th of October. Show your creative side and be prepared for Halloween. This course is suitable for individuals 8 and over, snacks will be provided for attendees. The cost of the program is $30, Preregistration is required and should be done on or before, Oct. 10th. Registration forms are available by emailing macweeney.leslie@gmail.com, or you can stop by the Dot to Dot Café on 1739 Dorchester Avenue in Dorchester MA.

Nature's Quiet Giants | October 12

Saturday at 11:30am – 12:00pm, surround yourself with the quiet giants in the forest (Trees). You will learn about the structure of the trees and you will have the opportunity to create your own style of tree, and cover it with bright colored leaves. Event is suitable for children 1year – 10 years old, and families. Registration is preferred which can be done online or call 617-983-8500 to register by phone. Walk-ins are welcome.

Journaling Skills | October 8

Tuesday, October 8th, Louis D. Brown Peace Institute & The Center for Violence Prevention and Recovery will be hosting their 3rd meeting.  This meeting will focus on Journaling Skills. In this meeting you will be given time to explore your writing skills. 
 
It will be held 5:30-7pm at the Louis D. Brown Peace Institute, 1452 Dorchester Avenue, 3rd Floor, Fields Corner.
