Walkin' the Tightrope Art Show at the Good Life, Mar. 5

Support the art department at the John Marshall Elementary School while enjoying a display of artwork by their 3rd and 4th graders, good food, music and dancing.  Nike has donated 130 pairs of sneakers that the students have customized as part of a project called "Walkin' the Tightrope" launched by art teacher Olivia Chaffee.  The project is designed to be an outlet for students to express themselves creatively and to address the unique and difficult issues that many of the students are going through.

Stuff Magazine wrote an article last month, Heart and Sole, in which Chaffee explains how"A vast majority of them have lost direct family members to gang violence or imprisonment...By nine or ten years old, these kids have been through some things many adults will never see in their lifetime. . .  This project is intended to get them on the right path." >> Read More
