Auditions for On Our Way to the Top | March 17

This Saturday March 17th from 11am-4pm at the Dorchester House, come strut your talent and audition for the upcoming On Our Way To the Top Talent Showcase. This is for a shot at competing in the talent showcase at the real deal on March 30th. Any and all talents, individuals and groups are welcome. Pass it along and get the word out!

 

 

 

Spring Talent Showcase at BCYF Cleveland Community Center Apr. 27

Seekers of Knowledge and BCYF Cleveland Community Center will be presenting their Spring Talent & Cultural Showcase! All are welcome to participate. The event will be on Friday, April 27, 2012, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. and is open to youth ages 5 to 18. The BCYF Cleveland Community Center is located at 11 Charles Street in Dorchester. Boston's Bridge to Excellence Mentoring Program Billboard Unveiling, Mar. 7

Clear Channel has donated billboards across the city to showcase the creative work of Boston's Bridge to Excellence MentoringPrograms. UMass Boston teamed up with Boston’s Bridge to Excellence Mentoring Program and the BCYF Cleveland Community Center in order to give young people a chance to envision their future and show how mentoring will help them achieve their goals. Students created posters showing how mentoring will help them achieve their goals, to be combined into two themed billboard designs: "Mentoring = Student Success" and "Mentoring Matters." The unveiling will be at 12:30 p.m. at the intersection of Bowdoin and Geneva.

Resource Fair @ Holland Community Center

Explore job opportunities and summer options at the Holland Community Center this Saturday, February 18, 2012. From 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at 85 Olney Street in Dorchester. Check out employment opportunities, summer camp information, youth programs, adult education programs, and teen summer job registration with Hopeline, PIC, and ABCD. The event is sponsored by the Office of Mayor Menino and The Neighborhood Response Team of Bowdoin / Geneva. Community Partners for the event include ABCD, Bowdoin Street Health Center- Violence Intervention and
Prevention (VIP), Jobs and Community Services, Catholic Charities Teen Center, CVC Unido, Dorchester CARES, The Family Nurturing Center and PATCH.

C.R.A.K. Poetry Youth Speaks Open Mic!

On Thursday, January 19, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. C.R.A.K. (Creativity Revolutionized Around Knowledge) "Youth Speaks" will be hosting an open mic! This open mic is open aimed for youth ages 3 - 20, but everyone is welcome to support and be a part of the audience! M.Y.H.O.O.D. Halloween Celebration, Oct. 29

M.Y.H.O.O.D. (Mentoring Youth Hold Onto Obtaining Dreams) is a nonprofit organization striving to provide a creative and educational outlet for youth trying to accomplish goals. M.Y.H.O.O.D. is sponsoring a Safe Halloween Party on October 29. The party will feature fun, games, food, and free candy. It be held at the Epiphany School at 154 Centre St. in Dorchester Center from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. You can find out more about the organization at www.myhoodmentors.com. Every School in Boston should be excellent and you can help make it happen! Learn more about becoming a member of your School Site Council. Parents, Students and Teachers, join your School Site Council! Did you know that School Site Councils: write reviews and comment on your school budget; develop the Whole School Improvement Plan; serve as "subjects" as interviews; and make recommendations for hiring teachers. Attend a workshop on Tuesday, September 20, 6:00 p.m. at Citywide Parent Council, 21 Deckard Street, Dorchester (Latin Academy Building). Food and childcare will be provided.
