How to get involved/application guidelines and procedures: 

How can my son/daughter apply for a seat in the school? We welcome calls by parents and students regarding admission to TechBoston Academy. In addition, you can contact your local Parent Information Center. How will students be selected for TechBoston Academy, and how many will be selected? Students will be chosen randomly from the pool of eligible applicants. Before entering the lottery students and parents should agree to the extended day, extended year calendar. The only eligibility requirement will be that each student must be eligible for promotion to the 9th grade (by June 30) as specified by Boston Public Schools’ standards. There will be approximately 90 students per class, meaning there will eventually be 380 students total.

The Center was founded in 1998 by Dr. S. Jean Emans, Chief of Adolescent Medicine, Dr. Marc R. Laufer, Chief of Gynecology, and Phaedra Thomas, RN, BSN. This core trio saw an urgent need for education, clinical care, research, and health care advocacy for teen girls and young women. When the CYWH was founded, it was the first of its kind in the world, bringing together the highest quality health services and health information for our teen patients. Drs. Emans and Laufer, the CYWH’s Co-Directors, have both earned national and international recognition for their expertise, commitment, and accomplishments in the area of young women's health. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS Students who have repeatedly violated the Code of Discipline at the Boston Public School in which they are currently, are referred to BMSA by the BPS Office of Alternative Education. Students are educated at BMSA for one year before they transition to another middle or high school.
