Hours of operation (or meeting times & dates):

Monday through Thursday: 3 - 8 p.m.;
Friday: 3- 6 p.m. (Subject to change)

Mission:

Project D.E.E.P. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit educational program, which operates through collaborations with Boston Centers for Youth & Families and Mayor Thomas M. Menino, and charitable institutions like the Boston Foundation. The mission of the program is to foster the educational, athletic and social growth and development of middle school children of all races, creeds and ethnic backgrounds throughout the Dorchester community.

Project D.E.E.P. has been very lucky to receive the support of its community. From the area's elected officials to the local parents who wait in line for hours to sign up their children, all of Dorchester has supported the organization since day one. The staff has worked hard to develop a large and strong volunteer network, one that grows each year and makes programs like the tutorial component possible.

The people at Project D.E.E.P. truly care about the children. The organization's assets do not involve the awards it has received, but the dreams it watches over. Children everywhere have dreams, and Project D.E.E.P.'s main concern is that those dreams do not go to waste. That is why every child who takes part in Dorchester's ground-breaking educational outlet is treated as the most important person involved in the program.

Sponsor a Student Program: Each year, middle school students from all over Boston struggle with their school work, the pressures of standardized testing, and the fear of getting into a good school. On top of these challenges, kids are also balancing friends, family and after school sports and activities. Thankfully, Project D.E.E.P. has been a shining resource in helping Dorchester students manage these responsibilities so that our students come out on top.

Hours of operation (or meeting times & dates):

YBB is open from Monday through Friday from 9 am to 5 pm, Open some Saturdays for weekend programs Closed Sundays

Mission:

Launched in 1990 with 28 young people in a church basement, YBB was the first replication of the YouthBuild model outside of New York. The mission of YouthBuild Boston Inc. (YBB) is to improve opportunities for young people of Boston by teaching skills that will equip them to support themselves and help develop personal and neighborhood responsibility. The guiding principle of YBB is "Youth or young adults, when treated as valuable resources, will realize that they can be partners in rebuilding their community". YBB realizes that the difficulties that young people face must be overcome by addressing the terrible and overwhelming lack of empowerment that they often feel. These feelings are reinforced by a society that views them as part of the problem, and not the solution. YBB recognizes that these individuals are capable of and vital to improving their lives and the condition of their community. YBB has been successful since its inception. YBB, along with other agencies has contributed to the vibrancy of the community. Consistent funding from the Department of Housing and Urban Development, AmeriCorps, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, YouthBuild USA, the private foundation community, corporations, and individuals, has enabled us to serve Boston youth.

BCS inspires and trains the artist, student, and ambassador within each child!

Boston City Singers teaches over 350 inspiring young singers in nine choruses. Most BCS singers are boys and girls (ages 4-18) from Boston‘s underserved neighborhoods.  BCS accepts new k-12 students with varying musical abilities; offers a sliding scale tuition.  Over 80% of members require substantial scholarship support to participate. Boston City Singers uses a distinctive curriculum that trains children as young as four years old to learn to sing well. Each  singer progresses through several levels: Kodály Singing Class, Neighborhood Training Chorus, Concert Chorus II, and Concert Chorus. The singers learn about diverse communities and cultures by performing an extensive repertoire including gospel music, international folk music, opera, jazz, and medieval chant.
