First Parish Dorchester Gala Benefit Dinner | May 7

The Gala Dinner in May is First Parish Dorchester's Annual Fundraiser to benefit the Meetinghouse Restoration & Mission of the congregation. Gather in the transformed Parish Hall, enjoying live jazz by local ensemble Muse Stew and a generous and varied buffet by TraNan Catering, both great friends of the congregation after so many years of working together. 

This year's ceremonial program focuses on our theme of "Peace through Education" will include remarks by our Interim Minister, Rev. Tricia Brennan, and the presentation of this year's Meetinghouse Award for Service to the Community to Mark Culliton, CEO of College Bound Dorchester.

 

When: May 7 ,  6 PM - 10 PM

23rd Annual Dorchester/Roxbury/Mattapan Community Seder | April 30

The Seder includes telling the story of Passover, singing songs, and eating dinner. It's a great opportunity to get to know each other in the context of discussing themes of slavery and freedom. Family friendly... with a special prize for the hidden afikomen (dessert matzah) after the meal! 

The 2016 Dorchester/Roxbury/Mattapan Community Seder will be the 23rd that has been organized by a group of Jewish friends and neighbors, hosted by First Parish Dorchester (Unitarian Universalist).  >> Read More

Square Dance on the Hill | April 9

Come on up to Meetinghouse Hill for the First Parish Church annual Square Dance. All ages welcome. Instruction provide by Dance Caller Tony Parkes. 

Where: First Parish Church Dorchester, 10 Parish Street Dorchester (Meetinghouse Hill)

When:  Saturday, April 9, 2016 Dancing from 6.30 pm to 8.30 pm (doors open at 6 pm)

Cost:  $10 per person - $20 MAX for families

Snacks and refreshments provided. Adult beverages available

Dot Day Kickoff Dinner | March 24

The traditional Dorchester Day kick-off meatloaf dinner will be held on Thurs., March 24 from 6-8 p.m. at First Parish Church on Meetinghouse Hill. The event will be catered by Pat's Pizza.

Middle Eastern Refugee Solidarity Dinner | Feb 28

Please join Dorchester People for Peace in an evening of delicious middle eastern food, activities for children, and speakers on the refugee crisis in Europe and the middle east. You will hear from Angela Kelly who just returned from Greece where she delivered supplies to refugees and from Jeff Klein from Dorchester People for Peace who will talk about political factors affecting the refugee crisis.   $20 donations will be collected, donations will go to Oxfam, an organization already on the ground with refugees in Greece.

A Family Christmas Eve Service of Lessons & Carols | Dec 24

 Join First Parish Church Dorchester for their Christmas Eve service. Sing many carols and hear some readings. Bring a plate of cookies, if you can. There will be a gathering with cookies, cocoa, and a bit of Christmas companionship for a bit after the service.

 All you can eat!! Turkey, cranberries, stuffing, gravy, vegetables, desserts, cider.     (Get your tickets at the door at 5:30)

Fresh Fridays! A Global Fusion of Taste and Sound | Aug. 3 - Sep. 14

The Dorchester Community Food Co-op and the Sustainability Guild International present an exciting series of Friday night events August through September. These event will be "nutritious nights out" featuring savory food and beverages, live music, slam poetry, activities for kids, local community chefs and cooking demos. Help celebrate the essence of Dorchester through diverse voices, talents and flavors!

Fresh Fridays! A Global Fusion of Taste and Sound's opening night was August 3 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the First Parish Church (10 Parish Street, Dorchester) and the event series continues until September 14.  View a flyer here. Complete Schedule of Events after the break!
