Boston Alliance for Young Children's Social Emotional Wellness | May 2017

The Boston Alliance for Young Children's Social Emotional Wellness (BAYCSEW) is an open group, bringing together family members, professionals, and community partners, who support the social-emotional wellbeing of children, birth through age 8.  We meet the first Friday of each month. All are welcome!

When: Every First Friday, 12:30 PM - 2:30 PM.

Where: Adams Street Branch Library in Dorchester. 690 Adams Street, Dorchester, MA 02122.

2013 Annual Celebration & Community Dinner | October 29

Tuesday October 29 at pm Project Right requests the pleasure of your presence at their 2013 Annual Celebration  and Community Dinner. The dinner will be held at the Prince Hall Grand Lodge in the William E. Reed Auditorium (24 Washington Street).  Help celebrate with your community the successful accomplishments during the past year.

Regular tickets are $50, Seniors and Students $35, contact ASAP cause tickets are going fast!!

100 Slices The Upscale Bake Sale | October 26

Saturday, October 26, at 1pm, The Peace Collaborative will present 100 Slices: The Upscale Bake Sale at the Bayside Expo Center Complex (150 Mount Vernon Street, Suite 300 Dorchester, MA). There will be a cupcake contest, dessert tasting & Afternoon Tea. Special performances by: The Boston Tap Company and Jimmy Tingle.

Masquer-Aid Ball | November 2

Saturday, November 2 from 7: 00-11:00pm, Dorchester House will host their Masquer-Aid Ball. This event will be held at the UMass Boston Campus Center, 100 Morrissey Boulevard. This event is a celebration of Dorchester and we’ll be honoring 3 Dorchester organizations who have made indispensable contributions to our community (Mt. Washington Bank, Viet-AID, Fair Foods). There will be a cocktail reception with passed hors d’oeuvres, a dinner service with food stations featuring cuisines from different Dorchester neighborhoods, an awards ceremony and live entertainment from the E-Water Band. Former Senator Jack Hart will be our Master of Ceremonies.

Celebrating 1-year of readings by Dorchester and UMass Boston creative writers...

Join us Sunday, May 6th for WRITE ON THE DOT at Savin Bar & Kitchen (across from the Savin Hill T station)

- reception starts at 5:30PM with an exclusive specials menu (incl. "author's ale," "The Hemingway," and $5 appetizers)

- reading starts at 6PM featuring poets Willie Pleasants and Liam Day of Dorchester alongside fiction writers Alexandra Sladky and Eric Maxson of UMass Boston.

Write on the DOT is a reading series coordinated by UMass Boston MFA students to support and promote local writing. We bring Dorchester writers and neighbors together to share creative work in our community.

featuring poetry and prose from UMass Boston MFA candidates Karen Locascio, Kathleen McKenna, and Jon Papas alongside Dorchester writers Johnny Diaz and Audrey Mardavich.

The event will be in the private downstairs space at Savin Bar & Kitchen, 112 Savin Hill Ave., from 7-8:30 PM with food and drink specials exclusive to Write on the DOT. Stick around after the reading and socialize! Write on the DOT was designed to bring neighbors and writers together, from Dorchester and UMass Boston alike. Everyone is invited!

Neighbors, get to know your writers; writers, get to know your neighbors. The 2nd Write on the DOT reading features an outstanding lineup of Dorchester writers presented by students in UMass-Boston's Creative Writing MFA Program sharing pieces in poetry and fiction. Readers includey Danielle Fontaine, Nathaniel Forsythe, Calvin Hennick, Sandra Kohler, Mitch Manning, and U-Meleni Mhlaba-Adebo.
