3rd Annual Oscar Fashion Dish

Join Dot Out for their 3rd Annual Oscar Fashion Dish Filthy Rich Style event on Sunday, March 2nd. This event will take place at Dbar located at 1236 Dorchester Ave from 6-11 pm. This event is inspired by the "richest" styles and times depicted in the years hottest movies, American Hustle and Wolf of Wall Street.

No Oscar event is complete without Red Carpet Paparazzi by David Pham. The Celebrity Hostess will be Phaedra Phaded. A $10 suggested donation to help benefit Dorchester Arts Collaborative Youth Programs. There will be prizes for Best Dressed, Best Concept, and many more. There will also be Zipcar gift certificates, Dbar gift certificates, and more.

Saturday, August 17th noon to 5 pm, “on the street” - Stoughton Street will be blocked off to traffic.
This FREE street festival will feature food and sidewalk sales from local Upham’s Corner businesses and live music on stage!

1-2pm: José Matteo Ballet Theatre
2-3pm: Aaron Larget-Caplan (and special guest!)
3-4pm: The CV Band

Heart of the Hub | Oct. 18

Join over 200 guests from the arts, cultural, education, medical, historic preservation, and culinary communities in Roxbury and around Greater Boston at the fifth annual Heart of the Hub to celebrate Roxbury's physical and cultural, and the people who work tirelessly to strengthen them. This annual event includes a silent auction featuring art and gift packages and A Taste of Roxbury dinner catered by area restaurants. The mistress of ceremonies is WCVB's Karen Holmes Ward. The E-Water Band will return to perform live, including a tribute to Roxbury's own Donna Summer.

The entire Dorchester community is preparing for the upcoming 108th Dorchester Day Parade, which starts at 1 PM in Lower Mills, will march four miles along Dorchester Avenue and end at Columbia Road. The Dorchester Reporter has the details here.

Chili Cookoff, March 25

The 6th Annual Dorchester Chili Cook-Off is happening Sunday, March 25, 3 to 6 p.m., at the IBEW Local 103 Hall, 256 Freeport Street. Civic associations, local merchants, politicians, and other community groups around Dorchester are invited to submit their chili and compete for "Best Chili" Awards. Tickets are $20 per adult and $30 for a family (up to 4 people) at the door. Tickets purchased in advance receive a $5 discount. All proceeds will benefit this year's Dorchester Day Parade! Boston Bike Update Feb 28

For the fourth year in a row, LivableStreets Alliance will host the annual Boston Bike Update event. Nicole Freedman, Director of the Boston Bikes Program, will present her fourth report on past achievements, challenges, and future goals of the Mayor’s effort to create a “world class bicycling city.” Come hear details on Hubway, the Bike Network Plan, parking facilities, youth programs, festivals, and more.  Special guest Mayor Thomas Menino will speak to his “the car is no longer king” policy for the city.

Event takes place from 5:45 – 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 28, at the Boston Public Library, Rabb Lecture Hall, 700 Boylston Street, Boston, MA 02116. Free and open to the public. Join fellow cyclists at this public forum on bicycle planning in Boston.

C.R.A.K. Poetry Youth Speaks Open Mic!

On Thursday, January 19, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. C.R.A.K. (Creativity Revolutionized Around Knowledge) "Youth Speaks" will be hosting an open mic! This open mic is open aimed for youth ages 3 - 20, but everyone is welcome to support and be a part of the audience! Boston Winery Post-Holiday Event Jan. 13

On Friday, January 13th, 2012, from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., Boston Winery will again be hosting its Annual Post Holiday Event for the 5th year!
