On  The Guy Mendilow Ensemble will be performing at the Kroc Center in Dorchester. This award-winning sextet comprised of world-class musicians representing Argentina, Israel, Palestine, Japan, the USA and the UK, formed in 2004 and has been enthusiastically received in venues ranging from world and traditional music festivals to performing arts centers, progressive Jewish organizations and universities. They have toured and recorded with the likes of Bobby McFerrin, Yo-Yo Ma, the Assad Brothers, Christian McBride and Simon Shaheen.

Free Community Concert at the Strand Theatre | Jan 2, 2017

Mayor Marty Walsh has invited three-time Grammy nominee Boston Baroque to perform its fourth annual Free Community Concert at the Strand Theatre (543 Columbia Road, Dorchester) on Monday, January 2 at 2pm. Bring your family and friends as the orchestra plays “Music for Royal Fireworks” by Handel and two sparkling works by J. S. Bach, featuring violin virtuoso Christina Day Martinson. Opening up the imagination to the sights and sounds of an actual fireworks display, "Music for Royal Fireworks" was written for King George II of England in 1749. The event on January 2 is free, but tickets are required.

BCYF Leahy-Holloran Community Center is hosting a FREE Mother-Daughter Self-Defense workshop! For girls age 8-18, make sure your daughter knows how to protect herself in dangerous situations! This workshop includes basic self-defense strategies that will help young girls respond to a variety of unsafe situations.
