SCI Social Capital Luncheon | March 26

Please join DotWell, in partnership with Codman Square Health Center and Dorchester House Multi-Service Center in honoring Cynthia Loesch at the March 26 SCI Social Capitalist Luncheon. Cynthia started her career as a community organizer by founding the BOLD Teens, a youth-led social and environmental justice group, when she was just 13.

The BOLD Teens began as a group of young people in Dorchester, who, like Cynthia, had lost relatives to tobacco-related illnesses. Signature successes include convincing the Boston Globe to ban advertising of all tobacco products in November 1999 and leading the effort to ban the sale of tobacco products in Boston pharmacies in 2008. >> Read More

MLK Day of Service | January 20

Monday, Jan. 20 @ 10:00 am - 1:30 pm Come out and voluneer! Honor the Reverend Martin Luther King with a day of service, not a day off. The woods are beautiful in the winter and there’s lots that can be done. Meet at Valley Gates Parking Lot at 10am. We’ll gather tools and head into the forest to remove catbrier (a prickly vine that strangles young oak trees). At 12:30 we’ll head to the Golf Clubhouse together for hot chocolate and a reflection on Dr. King’s work, community service, and our day together. We’ll wrap up at 1:30pm.

Wear old clothes (layers are good), but leave your nylon jacket or anything that would easily snag at home. We’ll have gloves and tools, bring your own and a pair of garden clippers or shears if you prefer.

Hosted by: AmeriCorps, Social Capital Inc and Franklin Park Coalition
