BAMS Fest | June 23, 2018

BAMS Fest will debut on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at Franklin Park, Playstead Field. The festival is a celebration and promotion of Afro-centric culture, music, art, and food, particularly highlighting the contributions to black music and culture to the City of Boston, Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the world. Given the nature of the festival, they anticipate a large turnout of 5,000 attendees. Therefore, many volunteers are needed!

Concerts at Castle Island | Aug. 6

Berklee, WUMB 91.9 FM, UMass Boston and the DCR have teamed up to bring free live music to Castle Island. Musical genres will blend between folk, bluegrass, and pop.

Come early and make a day of it! Swim at Pleasure Bay, enjoy a free tour of Fort Independence between noon and 3:30 pm with the Castle Island Association, grab lunch at Sullivan's or just relax in the shade!

Parking fills up early so public transportation is encouraged!

The Savin Hillbillies will be in concert at the Hyde Park Library in the Children's Garden (if rain in Menino Hall), as part of the Friends of Hyde Park Library Summer Concert Series. Admission is Free. Hope to see you there!

The U2 tribute band Joshua Tree performs in concert tonight at Garvey Park in Neponset. Part of ParkARTS Citywide Neighborhood Concert series. Free.

In Harmony Concert | June 12

The Suzuki School of Newton is excited to announce its new touring group, In Harmony. On Sunday June 12th, this group of 21 violinists from 1st grade to 10th grade plans to make an appearance in several diverse locations around the city of Boston, performing a variety of classical and popular music, including a fiddle tune called “On the Road to Boston”, and the Star Wars theme song. The school’s mission is to continue the work of Dr. Shinichi Suzuki, who believed that music education inspired in children the discipline and compassion needed to develop into good citizens of the world. The touring group will work together as a team to go out into the community and share their love of beautiful music.

Bilingual Concert with Mariana Iranzi | Feb 16

Mariana visits from New York City with a fun and interactive show for children and families. Come prepared to sing, dance, and practice your Spanish to the beat of original and some classic songs everyone will enjoy. Mariana is a professional musician and educator from Argentina and a graduate of Berklee College of Music.
