Fields Corner Book Sale | April 8, 2017

The Fields Corner library is having a open-public book sale where we will be selling thousands of different types of books, magazines, audio CDs, DVDs, and video tapes. All the profits will go towards developing new and current library programs in the city of Boston.

Upham's Corner BPL: Yaya DeAngel Live| March 2, 2017

Join Upham's Corner BPL for an evening of live music performed by local musician and student at the Berklee School of Music Yadriane “Yaya” DeAngel. The self-taught singer-songwriter and percussionist will merge several styles in an up-tempo, multilingual performance. This program is free and open to the public.

Lower Mills BPL: Story Time with the Boston Ballet | February 14, 2017

Children and families are welcomed once a month to hear stories about a famous ballet or a dancer. The story time is also supplemented with a  movement experience that highlights major themes of the story. All story times are led by Boston Ballet faculty dance educators. This program is for children ages 2 and up. Younger children will need parental supervision.

Adams Street BPL LEGOs Builders Club | February 2, 2017

Join us for a LEGO challenge at the library every Thursday after school. We’ll build schools, bridges, and playgrounds - all with LEGOs. Duplo is also available for younger builders. LEGOs Builders Club is recommended for children ages 4 and up.

"Next Steps in Starting Your Business" Workshop and Legal Counseling Clinic, Jun. 16

Come to an introductory workshop at the Codman Square Branch Library, 690 Washington St., Dorchester, MA from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. on June 16. Read Your Way to Fenway with the BPL, Deadline Jul. 22

By spending some of their summer days reading, hundreds of Boston young people between the ages of 5-17 will earn the chance to win tickets to see the Red Sox play at Fenway Park. Beginning June 1, young readers can visit any Boston Public Library location or go online to www.bpl.org/summer to pick up an application for the annual Read Your Way to Fenway summer essay contest. Kids need only read a minimum of three books and write a brief essay about a favorite. Applications and essays are due to any Boston Public Library location by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, July 22. Winners will watch the Red Sox up close on the afternoon of Sunday, August 28, against the Oakland Athletics.

Mayor Thomas M. Menino and Wally the Green Monster will celebrate the contest at the Grove Hall Branch of the Boston Public Library at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15. The Grove Hall Branch is located at 41 Geneva Avenue in Dorchester, 617.427.3337. In addition to meeting the Mayor and Wally, young readers at the June 15 celebration will hear children’s author David A.
