Position Description
 
Position: Group Leader
Reports to: Program Director, Winthrop School-Huntington Ave YMCA
Location: Winthrop Elementary School in Dorchester, August  - June
Part-Time: 2:00pm-6:00pm, $8-$12/hour
(NOTE: Also hiring a Site Coordinator for 12 PM-6 PM @ $12-15/hour)

General Function
The Group Leader is a part-time professional committed to represent the YMCA in a manner that aligns with the mission and goals of the Central Branch YMCA and the Winthrop Elementary School. Under the direction of the School Age Child Care Director, the Group Leader plans and implements classroom curriculum, communicates information to families, and maintains a safe, healthy, warm, engaging, and attractive environment. Age-appropriate activities should provide for growth in skills, self-awareness, group relations, and character development.
 
Responsibilities  

1.      Keep safety of children as a first priority
 2.      Assist students with homework
 3.      Uses positive methods of behavior management
 4.      Supervise children to ensure safety and appropriate behavior and manage transitions smoothly
 5.      Work to meet daily duties/needs of the program, and to be responsible for making sure that materials are ready for use and put away at the end of the day
 6.      Develop and implement curriculum that reinforces lessons learned during the school day
 7.      Greet ALL parents and update them on children’s progress
 8.      As appropriate, participate in events based within the school
 9.      Attend all staff meetings, training sessions, and program special events
 10.  Participate in at least five hours of professional development per year
 11.  Abide by the established EEC/YMCA SACC policies, procedures, regulations, and guidelines and asks when in doubt
 12.  Perform other duties as required by supervisor (remains flexible)
             

 
Qualifications:

1.      Must be at least 18 years of age and meet the EEC requirements for Group Leader. (102 CMR 7.32 (2)(e).

2.      High school degree required, some college preferred.

Part-Time: 12:00pm-6:00pm, $12-$15/hour
