3rd Annual Sickle Cellebration in the Park | September 21

On Saturday, September 21st. Greater Boston Sickle Cell Disease Association will be hosting their 3rd Annual Sickle Cellebration Walk. The 5K mile Walk/ Run, HealthFair and Multicultural Festival will start at 9A.M. at 1 Circuit Drive (Franklin Park) in Dorchester, MA.

Sickle Cellebration is GBSCDA educational campaign to raise funds and educate our community about Sickle Cell Disease and Sickle Cell Trait.

Literary Lights for Children Tea Party | September 29

The Associates of the Boston Public Library hosting their fifteenth annual Literary Lights for Children tea party in the Boston Public Library's Bates Hall in Copley Square. This event will be starting at PM until PM.
 
Literary Lights for Children aim is to raise awareness of children's literature, promote literacy, honor children's authors, and raise funds for the Boston Public Library's Special Collections.
 
Students selected from Boston area schools will introduce and present the awards to each of the 2013 honored authors. The honorees will then discuss their writing careers and share their love of books. Tea refreshments will be served. Books will be available for sale, or children are welcome to bring their own books for signing.
 

Pedal Poker River Run | October 19

Ride, walk or run along the Neponset River, collecting a full poker hand at stations along the way. The best hands win great prizes. This is a fun, low-key fundraiser that can be played at your own pace. Raise money for one of your favorite organizations: Boston Natural Areas Network, Brookwood Community Farm, Massachusetts Affordable Housing Alliance and/or Mattapan Food & Fitness Coalition.
 
Main route is a 5k along off-street paved paths (registration begins at 1:30pm). A longer (17.5 miles) route through Dorchester, Mattapan, Hyde Park and Milton is available for stronger cyclists (registration begins at 12:30pm).
 
Registration is free, but we are requesting a minimum $25 donation from participants 12 years and older with a goal of $100 raised by each person.
