Coach Education Session 5: Goalkeeping | March 18

On Tuesday March 18 at 6pm the Epiphany School 154 Centre St in Dorchester

Overview: This session will stress shot stopping and how to integrate goalkeeping and the goalkeeper into practice sessions.

The instructor will be Dean Conway 
Time: 6:00pm - 8:00pm *Sessions Start Promptly* 
What to bring: Athletic Gear, a soccer ball, water, and something to write on/with.

SCI Social Capital Luncheon | March 26

Please join DotWell, in partnership with Codman Square Health Center and Dorchester House Multi-Service Center in honoring Cynthia Loesch at the March 26 SCI Social Capitalist Luncheon. Cynthia started her career as a community organizer by founding the BOLD Teens, a youth-led social and environmental justice group, when she was just 13.

The BOLD Teens began as a group of young people in Dorchester, who, like Cynthia, had lost relatives to tobacco-related illnesses. Signature successes include convincing the Boston Globe to ban advertising of all tobacco products in November 1999 and leading the effort to ban the sale of tobacco products in Boston pharmacies in 2008. >> Read More

Team MR8 fundraising party | March 16

Sunday March 16 at 6pm, John Hanlon and Sue Mcdevitt are having a team MR8 fundrasing Party at Blasi's in Admas Corner. There will be Irish music, free appitizer's raffles and great fun. Tickets are going for $20 in advance in $25 at the door.

KidsFest | March 15

BEFF presents KidsFest at the Adams Street Library located at 690 Adams Street, Dorchester,Saturday, March 15 from 11am - 12:30pm. This event is suitable for children five and up. Come see funny and beautiful animations for kids. One hour of short films about our planet followed by a hands-on, take-home activity. Although registration is not required, there are limited seats for this free event. Children that will be participating must be accompanied by an adult.

Playful Paws Playgroups | March 12

Starting Wednesday, March 12 Playful Paws Playgroup will be taking place in the Franklin Park Zoo at One Franklin Park Road (Meeting Barn) form 10:15am - 11:00am. Ages for this play group ranges from 18 months – 3 year olds with a caregiver. Playful Paws Playgroup is as much for the caregivers as it is for the “cubs.” Get out of the house and bring your little one to the Zoo for some open play and animal exploration. At each class participants will learn through looking, touching, and movement. The possibilities are endless and may include storytimes, animal encounters, biofacts, simple crafts and more. And, if the weather is nice, we might go for treks outside! Registration is required use this link Cost: $32 for a series for Members, $40 for a series for Non-members. Sibling discount applies. B-3 Police Community Meeting at Lee School Wednesday March 19 at 5 pm,the District B-3 Crime Advisory Meeting will be held at the Josesph Lee School, located at 155 Talbot Ave., Dorchester. Residents and merchants are invited to attend to meet members of the out and Boston Police Command Staff. Dinner is served at 5 p.m. The meeting begins at 6 p.m.

JFK Library Celebrates St. Patrick's Day: Greene O'Leary School of Irish Dance | March 15

On Saturday March 15 between 10am and 11:30am, the Greene O'Leary School returns to the JFK Library for a youthful celebration of St. Patrick's Day. Dancers demonstrate athleticism, skill and poise while presenting traditional and contemporary styles of Irish Dance.

St. Patrick's Day Brunch | March 15

Saturday March 15 at from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m.,the eighth annual Dorchester St. Patrick's Day Brunch will be held at Blessed Mother Teresa Parish Hall, 800 Columbia Rd.

Special guest: Mayor Martin J. Walsh. Three people will be inducted into the Dorchester Hall of Fame at the event:
FR. Richard 'Doc' Conway,
Sen. Linda Dorcena Forry and
Superintendent-in-Chief Willie Gross, BPD.

All proceeds will benefit the Mary Ann Brett Food Pantry at Blessed Mother Teresa Parish. Seats: $100 per person, reservations will be held at the door.
