Read the "goodbye" message below:

With great sadness the Board of Directors of ODWIN Learning Center has voted to suspend the program as of June 30, 2010.

Unfortunately, funding is just not available to sustain ODWIN for another year, or even one more semester. Classes will continue until the scheduled end of this semester; however, we are not registering students for September at this time. Exam week follows until June 29 for those in advanced classes.

Throughout the years ODWIN has been a unique place to learn and to work. Mary Malone, ODWIN'S founder, had a vision 46 years ago that challenged the status quo and created an opportunity for the underserved to succeed. Virgil H. Logan, Jr., a former teacher, said of Mary Malone, “Your indomitable spirit and legacy of love and care shall live for all time.” The same can be said of ODWIN. The doors may close, but the students who have come through them are ODWIN’s shining legacy.

Mission:

ODWIN's two-fold mission is:

(1) To counteract poverty by enabling non-traditional students (people of color, ethnic minorities, working poor with inadequate educational preparation) to enter the professions, thus enabling them and their families to escape poverty, achieve positions of influence, and enhance economic and social change in the Boston community.

(2) To counteract racism and sexism, two of the key causes of the conditions that cause poverty, by increasing the number of competent women and minorities in the professions.
