Ignite Change: GLOW Boston Essay Contest for Young Women Jan. 7 deadline

Dates Relevant:
Mon, 11/08/2010 - Fri, 01/07/2011

Young women: show your power with a pen! GLOW (Girls' Leadership, Organized Women) Boston is holding an essay contest for girls in grades 7-12 (or ages 12-19). The contest calls for an answer, in 1500 words or less, to the prompt "If you could, what would you change about your school, community, or city?" What is needed to put the plan in action? What makes it an important change? Glow Boston offers publishing opportunities, scholarship money, books and other prizes to competition winners. Finalists will also be paired with a local female author who will mentor them and give the student free copies of her book. Cash prizes and gift certificates for teachers and youth workers who collect the most submissions. The essay's final deadline is Jan 7, 2011. Contact Leah Moschella for more information.
