Dorchester Board of Trade Memorial Scholarship, Deadline Jun. 1

Dates Relevant:
Mon, 03/21/2011 - Fri, 06/03/2011

The Dorchester Board of Trade has established a scholarship which will be awarded to a Dorchester resident enrolled in post-secondary (following high school) education for the upcoming academic year. This scholarship is open to anyone pursuing higher education who lives in Dorchester - not only high school seniors. Originally, the Board awarded one scholarship in the name of Ed Madden, to honor the past president who died in 1996.

The DBOT has expanded the program to memorialize two other deceased leaders, Joe Langis, former Executive Secretary, and Ron Schiffman, former Vice President. All three men were vital to expanding the mission of the Dorchester Board of Trade during their lifetimes. In tribute to these three men, the Board of Directors has voted to make these scholarships awards in their names.

Interested applicants must submit a 300-500 word essay on the following topic:

Dorchester is the largest neighborhood within the city of Boston. What else makes us stand out?
Sets us apart? Makes us special?

This essay, along with a resume including name, address, phone number and email address must be submitted (post marked) by June 1, 2011.
