Win a tree in your business/organization!

The Trustees of Reservations Boston Region is excited to announce our fourth biannual Spreading Roots tree giveaway! On Saturday, May 9th we will be giving away free trees to deserving Boston residents, non-profits and community groups. See details below:

Giveaway Guidelines:
➢ Trees must be planted in the City of Boston.
➢ Trees are limited to 1 tree per residence or 3 trees per non-profit, neighborhood association, or school.
➢ You can choose from the following basic types:
o Fruit Trees (e.g. Apple, Cherry)
o Flowering Trees (e.g. Redbud, Magnolia)
o Shade Trees (e.g. Oak, Maple)
o Conifer Trees (e.g. White Pine, Arborvitae)
*Though we cannot guarantee it, we will do our best to match you with your preferred tree type*

 

Pick-up location and time:

ONE DAY ONLY – Saturday, May 9th, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at City Natives, 30 Edgewater Drive, Mattapan. Residents and groups must make arrangements to pick up trees during this time – trees will not be held for later pick-up.

At 11:30 am on May. 9th, an optional training session will be held to demonstrate proper tree planting technique.

Tree specifications and supplies:
Trees will be in 5-gallon pots, 6 feet or greater in height, and weigh about 50 pounds. Be prepared to carry and load your vehicle with a tree. Each tree will come with supplies, which may include gloves, a bag of compost, and a bag of fertilizer.

By accepting the tree, the recipient agrees to water and maintain the tree(s) for two (2) years following the planting date to help ensure the tree’s establishment and survival, and plant the tree(s) by May. 31, 2015.
